TAHL year end meeting minutes.
League Members,
The League concluded its year end meeting. We’re pleased to present the following new members to the executive team.
New League President: Travis Ridler
New Vice-President: Travis Lamming (agreed to stay on for the next season to help with the transition of the new executive members).
New League Statistician: Mark Dejong
New Tournament Organizer: Travis Lamming
Old Timers Division discipline committee: Ryan Praticante, Joel Coburn, Kenny Nordstrom
Rec Division discipline committee: Cory Tralnberg, Brent Dejong, Mark Dejong
Meeting minutes:
- League has capped the season and playoffs to 40 games. This was done for budgeting and scheduling reasons.
- Registration dues to increase by $50. This is to accommodate the projected ice fee increases and more games played per team.
- League now has a firm deadline when no refunds will be issued. That date is the first day of Christmas break.
- Andrew McCleary has volunteered to help review the schedules for the 2026/27 season. This is to help Kelly Gingles get a 2nd set of eyes for any discrepancies.
- New Rec Team request was voted down due to not enough ice time availability. League will review increasing team sizes in the future depending on registration wait list numbers.
- Spare list players will be charged $150 up front to be on the spare list. League feels that too many spare player dues are going uncollected.
- League has removed the rule that a player must play 10 games during the regular season to be eligible for the playoffs. The rule that rosters are locked with 10 games left in the regular season will remain in effect.
- Rec Division has voted and approved a change to the Playoffs. Rec Division to move back to two pools. The Semi-Finals will now also be a best of 3 format (same as the finals). Old Timers will see no change.
- New constitution rule: Any special votes that affect a Division will be handled directly by the Team Reps in that Division. If the voting ends in a tie than the League’s other Division will be asked to vote to break the in pass. This is not for discipline of player penalties. The regular discipline committee will still be in charge of these tasks.
- Specific player conduct was reviewed. League has a clear path going forward. A follow up email to follow and warning letter to be issued.
- Tyler Noble mentioned that there’s been a rule change regarding when a puck leaves the ice surface. Hockey Canada rules that all pucks leaving the ice surface regardless of source from the blue line to the end boards remains in that zone. This includes pucks shot off the posts and cross bars. All face offs will automatically be in the end zone of origin. Regardless of how a pucks leaves the surface the face off will always stay in the end zone of origin.
- Terrace Adult Hockey is entering its 50+ season. League will try to do something special to celebrate this great achievement. More details to follow. Perhaps the return of League’s All Star Charity Game or special events during the TAHL Annual Tournament.
